In the first month of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), the number of Iranians visiting foreign countries decreased by 24.5 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2018-March 20, 2019), an official with Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Vali Teymuri said, Trend reports via ISNA.
In the first month of the current Iranian year, some 660,000 Iranians traveled abroad, Teymuri said.
For comparison, in the same month of the last Iranian year, this figure was around 874,000, he added.

However, the number of tourists visiting Iran increased by 33.48 percent in the first month of the current Iranian year, compared to the same month of the last year, Teymuri said.
In the first month of the current Iranian year, 598,000 people visited Iran, he added.

It is noteworthy that the highest number of day-offs in Iranian calendar fall to the first month and Iranian travel both within the country and abroad.
However, after last year's devaluation, the number Iranians traveling abroad decreased dramatically.
Iranian airline companies also note 50 percent decrease in air traffic.
