Azerbaijan ranks first in tourist flow to Georgia

The number of tourists from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 13.1 percent in July 2019, thus ranking Azerbaijan the first in the tourist flow to Georgia, Trend reports with reference to National Tourism Administration of Georgia.

In total, 570,482 foreign tourists visited in July 2019, which is one percent more than in July 2018.

Despite the Russian sanctions prohibiting flights from this country to Georgia, the reduction in the number of Russian tourists was less than expected, with a decrease of 6.4 percent compared to July 2018. Thus, the Russians rank the second in the tourist flow.

According to statistics, 850,650 Russian tourists visited Georgia in January-July, which is 22.1 percent more than in the same period of 2018.

In seven months of 2019, the number of tourists from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 3.1 percent, and from Turkey by 9.6 percent compared to the same period of 2018.

A positive trend is also observed with respect to the EU countries; the number of tourists from Germany increased by 33.7 percent, from France - by 29.6 percent, from Lithuania - by 20 percent, from Latvia - by 17.4 percent, and from Poland - by 15.75 percent.

The growth of the number of the tourists was particularly rapid from the Kuwait (58.1 percent), China (55.6 percent), Uzbekistan (50.9 percent), Saudi Arabia (42.1 percent), South Korea (38.9 percent), and Kazakhstan (28.5 percent).
