It is planned to discuss the issue of opening direct air links between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat in October 2019, Trend reports referring to Kyrgyz media.

This was announced by Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Minister of Transport and Roads Zhenishbek Nogoibaev at a meeting of the Kyrgyz-Turkmen intergovernmental committee on trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation, Kyrgyzstan’s Kabar news agency notes.

"The opening of a direct flight would help to intensify trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian sectors, as well as create air corridors and increase competitiveness," Nogoibaev was quoted as saying.

Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan are discussing the prospects of partnership in the field of creating processing enterprises. The parties agreed to support the creation of joint ventures focused on the markets of the EU, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and China. Kyrgyzstan is also negotiating with the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan to look into opportunities for increasing trade.
