The leaders of Spanish airlines are showing interest in the tourism sector of Georgia, Trend reports citing the press service of the Georgian Tourism Administration.
The head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, Mariam Kvrivishvili, and Georgian ambassador to Spain, Ilia Giorgadze, met with representatives of Spanish Swiftair airline in Madrid.
Swiftair operates scheduled and charter flights, passenger and cargo flights to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Its main base is Madrid-Barajas Airport. The airline was founded in 1986. It is wholly owned by a subsidiary of Mediterranean Air Freight. Swiftair is a partner of one of the largest Spanish airlines Air Europa.
The study of a possible flight schedule between Madrid and Tbilisi began in partnership with Swiftair and Air Europe.
“Spain is an important new tourism destination for Georgia, so we launched an active campaign in Spain. We held presentations for the leading Spanish tour operators in Madrid, which will facilitate the influx of new tourist flows and further increase awareness of Georgia. We met with representatives of Spanish airlines,” said Kvrivishvili.
