Georgia sees increase in revenues from Int’l travelers

Georgia’s income from international travelers (who stay in a country for more than six months not for tourism, but for the purposes of education, employment, family reunion, etc.) amounted to $1.5 billion (an increase of 7 percent) in January-June 2019 (first-second quarters), Trendreports citing the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

This is $95 million more than a year earlier.

As of January-June, the share of tourism in GDP amounted to 7.7 percent, which is 19.7 percent more than a year earlier.

Reportedly, between April and June 2019 (the second quarter), income from international travelers amounted to $878 million (an increase of 8.4 percent), which is 68 million more than in the same period a year earlier.

In April-June, the share of tourism in GDP amounted to 8.2 percent, which is 23.6 percent more compared to the previous year.
