Georgia's income from international travelers increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12

Georgia received income from international travelers (who stay in a country for more than six months not for tourism, but for the purposes of education, employment, family reunion, etc.) in the amount of $2.8 billion from January through October 2019, which is 0.9 percent or $25 million more compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

According to preliminary data, in October of 2019, income from international travelers amounted to $267 million, which is $13 million more compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2019, Georgia's income from international travelers amounted to $877 million, which is 8.4 percent or $68 million more compared to the same period last year.

In the first-second quarter of this year, income from international travelers reached $1.5 billion, which is 7 percent or $95 million more compared to the same period last year.

In the first and second quarter of 2019 the share of tourism in the country's GDP is 7.7 percent, which is 19.7 percent more compared to the same period last year.
