BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 8. A total of 113,473 foreigners visited Azerbaijan in February 2023, which is 48.57 percent more than in the same period of the previous year (76,376), Trend reports via the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan.
Some 232,567 tourists visited Azerbaijan from January through February 2023 (a growth of 55 percent).
The top 10 countries by the number of foreigners visiting Azerbaijan in February 2023 included Russia (35,000 people), Türkiye (23,700), Iran (10,200), Georgia (6,600), India (4,700), Pakistan (3,900), the UAE (3,400), Saudi Arabia (2,000), Belarus (2,000) and Kuwait (1,900).
Some 119,094 foreign citizens visited Azerbaijan in January 2023.
In 2022, over 1.6 million foreigners visited Azerbaijan, which is more than twice the figure for the same period in 2021 (790,062).
In addition, the number of tourists from the South Asian region, who visited Azerbaijan, considerably grew in January 2023. This figure amounted to 7,893, up by 8.72 times compared to January 2022 (905). The majority of the tourists from the above region accounted for India - 4,098 people (an increase of 8.57 times over the year), Pakistan - 3,271 (a growth of 9.88 times), and Nepal - 230 (a growth of 28.75 times).
