ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 17. The number of tourists from Turkmenistan visiting Türkiye in 2023 increased 2.6 times year-on-year, Trend reports.
According to an official source, this was stated by Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmet Demirok at the Turkish Cultural Center in Ashgabat city, on the occasion of Tourism Week in Türkiye.
According to him, over the past year, more than 120,000 tourists from Turkmenistan visited Türkiye, which is 2.6 times more than in the same period in 2022 (45,249 tourists).
The Ambassador stressed that such a significant increase in the interest of Turkmen citizens in Türkiye indicates the strengthening of cultural and tourist ties between the two countries.
Furthermore, Demirok added that the development of air links between Türkiye and Turkmenistan, in particular the increase in flights by Turkish Airlines and Turkmenistan Airlines, contributed to the growth of tourist flow.
Meanwhile, in recent years, the tourist flow from Turkmenistan to Türkiye has been rapidly increasing, thanks to improved cooperation between the two countries, the expansion of aviation and tourism ties, as well as the development of tourism infrastructure and marketing strategies.
This growth is also driven by cultural and historical ties between peoples, as well as the availability of various types of recreation, from beach and cultural to medical and religious tourism.
