Georgian ports increase cargo flow

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 10

Georgian ports increased cargo flow, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

As reported, over 10 months, seaports and terminals of the country handled 14.2 million tons of cargo, with the annual growth reaching 14.5 percent.

Container shipments increased by more than 42 percent, to a record 526,059 TEU.

The container turnover for 10 months already exceeded the annual indicator of 2018.

According to the Ministry of Economy, 7.2 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the port of Poti in 10 months of 2019, while for 10 months of 2018, the figure was 5.1 million tons.

During the reported period, 3.1 million tons and 1.3 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Supsa and Kulevu ports respectively.
