Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has exceeded the plan for the implementation of the budget for 2019 in the amount over 113 million lari ($39.5 million) or 106 percent, Trend reports citing the press service of the ministry.

The budget execution plan for 2019 approved by the ministry amounted to two billion lari ($700.2 million).

According to preliminary data, the implementation of the budget execution plan by the ministry in 2019 is 2.113 billion lari (about 739.8 million), which is historically the highest indicator in the ministry.

According to the Roads Department of Georgia under the ministry, 208 km of highways were built in Georgia in 2019.

“Our budget for 2019 was unprecedentedly high, but in 2020, it will increase, so we will be able to finance even more projects. The main part of the budget still falls on the road infrastructure, reflecting the needs of the population, and it includes construction of sections of international roads necessary for the economic development of the country”, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Maya Tskitishvili said.

Speaking about current and planned projects, Tskitishvili noted that works on the Rikoti Pass section, as well as on the Kvesheti-Kobi road section and other international highways, are in an active phase.

"In 2020, we will be able to open a bypass road in Kutaisi and a bypass part of the Samtredia-Grigoleti road section. We also plan to rehabilitate and repair another 600 sites and roads,” she added.

According to the minister, another priority in 2020 will be development of education infrastructure and facilities.
