Kazakhstan, China forecast transit container transportation to increase

Kazakhstan and China forecast increase of transit container transportation by 15-20 percent in 2020 compared to 2019, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways).

This was announced following a number of meetings held by KAZ Express with state logistic platforms of Xi'an city (China) and top management of China Railways subsidiary companies.

During the meeting, parties talked results of cooperation in 2019 and future plans for 2020 on container transit by transport corridors via territory of Kazakhstan on the routes China – Europe – China, China – Central Asia – China, and China - Trans-Caspian International Transport Route – China.

The forecast increase of transit via Kazakhstan on the routes China – Russia and Belarus – China for 2020 was also considered.

At the same time, parties noted increasing volume of transit via Kazakhstan compared to alternative routes.

Cargo turnover by railways between Kazakhstan and China amounted to 17.6 million tons in 2019, which is 25 percent more compared to 2018.

Over 6.8 million tons of cargo was shipped from China, which is 24 percent more than in 2018. In turn, Kazakhstan shipped 10.8 million tons to China which is 26 percent more than during 2018.
