Uzbekistan Airways to purchase new Dreamliner

Uzbekistan Airways plans to buy another Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner in March 2020, according to the Investment program for 2020–2022, approved by Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.

The amount of investments that will be directed for its purchase is $141.7 million. According to Boeing, the plane itself costs $248.3 million.

The first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft replenished the fleet of Uzbekistan Airways in the summer of 2016.

In January 2018, when there were already two such aircraft in the airline’s fleet, the carrier signed a contract to acquire four more Dreamliner liners by 2021.

In July last year, it was reported that Uzbekistan Airways started using the fifth Boeing-787 Dreamliner.

Uzbekistan Airways was established on January 28, 1992, under the decree of the head of state as a body of governmental management of civil aviation, providing development, co-ordination and realization of policy in the field of air transport within the territory of Uzbekistan.

Fleet of «Uzbekistan Airways» consists of Boeing-757/767, Boeing-787-8 Dreamliner, А320, IL-114-100, as well as cargo freighters Boeing-767-300BCF.

The airline operates regular domestic and international flights to more than 40 cities of the leading countries of the world - Russia, Belarus, the USA, Italy, Germany, France, Latvia, Great Britain, India, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, China, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Singapore, Turkey, Israel, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan. The company has representative offices in 25 countries.

About 15,000 employees work in Uzbekistan Airways.
