SAIC-GM, a joint venture of U.S. General Motors and Chinese SAIC Motor, sent a shipment of 216 Chevrolet cars to Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
SAIC-GM notes that it exports cars to Central Asia for the first time by rail as part of the One belt, One Road initiative.
In early February, UzAuto Motors said it is suspending Chevrolet Equinox's contract due to uncertain delivery dates.
The stable operation of automotive and other enterprises was in doubt due to the epidemiological situation in China.
At that time, UzAuto Motors noted that customers, who paid for the purchase of Chevrolet Equinox and did not want to wait for the resumption of supplies, can return the money.
In addition, it was possible to replace the contract for the purchase of any other car.
The price of Chevrolet Equinox in Uzbekistan is 349 million soum ($36,065).
Recently, Uzbekistan’s UzAuto Motors announced that sales of cars under Ravon brand in Russia and other CIS countries will stop by mid-2020.
