Volume of cargo shipping grows in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan carried out cargo shipping in the amount of $158.5 million from January through March 2020, which is 17.1 percent more compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing a report of the State Customs Committee (SCC).

In 1Q2020, the volume of cargo shipping amounted to 223,200 tons, which is 14.3 percent more compared to the same period of 2019.

The volume of exported cargo shipping dropped by 25.8 percent and amounted to 55,400 tons. In monetary terms it reached $22.4 million, which is a decrease of 40 percent.

Meanwhile, the volume of imported cargo shipping amounted to 167,800 tons worth $135.9 million, and indicated an increase of 30.9 percent.

In the reporting period, Azerbaijan’s total trade turnover reached $6.8 billion, export amounted to $4.21 billion, and import exceeded $2.6 billion.
