Kazakhstan launches container service on China-Turkmenistan train route

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan’s railways operator - KTZ Express – has launched a new container service on the China-Turkmenistan route with transit via Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to the KTZ Express.

The train was sent from the Chinese station Jinan Nan, then through the Kazakh border stations Khorgos, Altynkol and Bolashak, and proceeded in the direction of the Turkmen Gypjak station.

The report said that the container train consists of 44 forty-foot containers with general cargo. The total travel time from departure point to the destination is eight days.

“The advantage of the new container service for customers of KTZ Express is the optimal time for delivering goods from China to the markets of Turkmenistan. The new train will open up additional opportunities for trade and economic cooperation and will increase the volume of cargo flows,” the company said.

A number of international transport routes go through the territory of Kazakhstan.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, Kazakhstan has suspended passenger traffic with a number of countries, including China. However, this measure did not affect cargo and transit transportation, which is still underway as usual.
