Passenger transportation by air down in Iran

The passenger transportation by air within Iran decreased by 80 percent in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 20-April 19, 2020), compared to the same month last Iranian year, said deputy director of Iran Airports Company Hamid Reza Seyyedi, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to Seyyidi, about 753,000 passengers were transported by air in the first month.

Seyyidi recalled that 3.8 million passengers were carried in the same month last Iranian year.

"Last month, 9,249 landings and departures were recorded in Iran," he said.

The official said that about 9 million kilograms of cargo and airmail was transported along with passengers last month.

Seyyidi said that last month, most flights were registered at Mehrabad airport. Thus, 302,000 passengers were transported by 3,573 flights.

According to the official, 857 flights were registered and 90,500 passengers were transported at Mashhad airport.

Seyyidi said that 394 foreign flights were registered last month. About 24,000 passengers and 3 million kilograms of cargo were transported.

"Imam Khomeini Airport, Shiraz Airport and Larestan Airport are in the top three in foreign flights," he said.
