Azerbaijan's ADY Container boosts railroad transit volumes

The growth of import goods transportation by containers of Azerbaijan's ADY Container made up 26 percent from January through May 2020 compared to the same period of last year, a source in the company told Trend.

Thus, in the reporting period 7,125 containers were imported to Azerbaijan against 5,666 containers transported in the first 5 months of last year.

Meanwhile, 5,204 containers were exported from Azerbaijan, which is 8 percent more compared to the same period of last year (4,825 containers).

According to the source, in the first five months of 2020, 8,148 containers were transported in transit by Azerbaijani railroads, which is 24 percent more than in the same period of 2019 (6,593 containers).

The total growth of railway transportation from January through May 2020 made up 20 percent (20,477 containers).

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, ADY Container continues to carry out international (transit) railway freight import and export transportation in the normal operation mode.

In the first quarter of 2020, 11,321 containers were transported by Azerbaijani railroads.

ADY Container LLC has begun expanding cooperation, mainly with countries in the Far East region - China, Japan, and South Korea, as well as with Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, Iran and India, with the purpose to increase the volume of cargo transportation along the East-West and North-South international transport corridors and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

ADY Container LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, is engaged in the centralization, storage, service and transportation of containers in accordance with international standards.
