Oil handling up at Kazakhstan's Aktau port

The volume of cargo handled in Kazakhstan’s Aktau sea port amounted to 269,000 tons in May 2020, which compared to 287,000 tons in May 2019, indicates a slight drop year-on-year, Aktau post’s representative told Trend.

The majority of the cargo handled in the port during the reporting month accounted for oil handling. Thus, a total of 196,000 tons of oil were handled in the post in May 2020, which indicates an increase year-on-year compared to 171,000 tons in May 2019.

Oil is followed by grain, the handling volume of which was 36,000 tons compared to 43,000 tons in May 2019. Metal handling amounted to 4,000 tons in May 2020 which is flat year-on-year as metal handling in May 2019 also amounted to 4,000 tons.

Furthermore, a total of 33,000 tons of handled cargo accounted for other types of cargo, which is a twofold decrease compared to 69,000 tons in May 2019.

Additionally no ferry cargo was handled in the port during reporting months of both 2020 and 2019.

Currently, there are three operating seaports in Kazakhstan: Aktau, Bautino and Kuryk.

Nowadays, Aktau International Commercial Sea Port is a modern multi-purpose terminal that allows the transportation of goods from East to West, from North to South and back 12 months a year and 24 hours a day.

Bautino сargo port is a division of Aktau International Commercial Sea Port, and is located in the village of Bautino (150 km from the city of Aktau), in the waters of the Bautino Bay of Tyubkaragansky Gulf.
