Ambassador: Spanish airline may soon appear in Georgian air market

The Spanish airline Air Europa may soon appear in the Georgian air market, and passengers will be able to fly from Tbilisi to Madrid via direct flight, said Ambassador Georgia to Spain Ilia Giorgadze, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

The Spanish side is interested in launchin direct flights between the two countries, the ambassador noted.

According to Giorgadze, Spanish Minister of Tourism María Reyes Maroto Illera and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava will discuss direct flights from Madrid to Tbilisi when the Spanish delegation will visit Georgia in the second half of July.

The visit is initiated by Turnava, who invited the Spanish delegation to Tbilisi. The delegation will include the minister of tourism of Spain, minister of transport Jose Luis Abalos Meco, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili and well-known tour operators.

"One of the issues that Jose Luis Abalos Meco will discuss with Natia Turnava will be the entry of Spanish airlines into the Georgian market. Their interest is great, and it will probably be Air Europa," Giorgadze said.
