Trend:

Iran's naval fleet and maritime industry will regain their former glory, as the sanctions and constraints are temporary, said deputy minister of Industry, Mine and Trade.

"All those who work in the maritime trade sector, those who are involved in oil extraction operations, and the individuals that ensure security of waterways, are contributing to success of sea trade services," said Mohammad Rastad, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"To develop the sector, the Ports and Maritime Organization plans to upgrade the industry capabilities and conduct training for the staff employed in naval fleet," he added. "Shipping and oil tanker companies should create possibility to facilitate the training to develop personnel potential."

"The trainings should be taken seriously to prevent accidents in traditional fleet; ignoring safety measures have caused fire accidents in the past, so we expect responsible organizations to act to reduce the accidents on water," he said.

The US administration has imposed sanctions against Iranian shipping lines, and has warned that the commercial and maritime industries also risk sanctions if they dog business with Iran.
