Uzbekistan talks upcoming sales of Volkswagen and Škoda cars

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree "On measures to implement a project to organize the production of Volkswagen light commercial vehicles in the Republic of Uzbekistan", Trend reports referring to www.kun.uz.

Uzavtosanoat and Volkswagen Group Rus signed an agreement on production of light commercial vehicles in the Jizzakh free economic zone in March. The project is being implemented on the basis of the Jizzakh Auto Plant LLC.

In accordance with the document, the project will be implemented in two stages. Dealer and service networks will also be created in Ferghana, Tashkent and Jizzakh.

Employees of the Jizzakh Auto Plant will undergo training on large-unit assembly and quality control. Afterwards, the large-unit assembly of cars under the control of German specialists will be launched at the plant.

The instructions were given to develop, coordinate and conclude an investment agreement on the transition to the second stage of the project implementation till November 2021.

“The second stage will envisage the organization of a full production cycle (starting from 2022),” Director General of the Jizzakh Auto LLC Oybek Ayubov said. “Issues regarding the volume of investments and export of cars will also be settled.”

Moreover, more than 40 filling stations will also be created in Uzbekistan within the decree, which will sell Euro-5 standard gasoline and diesel fuel.
