Container shipping between Azerbaijan, Russia hikes

The volume of cargo transportation by containers of Azerbaijan's ADY Container LLC between Azerbaijan and Russia amounted to 2,140 units from January through May 2020, the company told Trend.

According to the company, there was a significant increase in transportation from Russia to Azerbaijan in 2020.

In the reporting period, container shipping increased by over 2 times compared to the same period of 2019, the company noted. The volume of container cargo shipping of ADY Container between Azerbaijan and Russia amounted to 1,004 units from January through May 2019.

In the first five months of this year, 5,204 containers with cargo were exported, which is 8 percent higher compared to the same period of 2019 (4,825 containers). At the same time, 8,148 containers were transported in transit, showing a growth of 24 percent (6,593 containers in the same period of 2019).

The total growth of transportation amounted to 20 percent.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, ADY Container continues to import and export international transit freight in normal conditions, said the company.

In the first quarter of 2020, 11,321 containers were transported by Azerbaijani railways, which is almost 10 percent more compared to the first quarter of 2019 (10,250 containers).

ADY Container LLC is expanding cooperation, mainly with countries in the Far East region - China, Japan, South Korea, as well as with Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, Iran and India, in order to increase the volume of cargo transportation along the international East West Transport Corridor, North-South Transport Corridor and Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

ADY Container LLC is engaged in storage, maintenance and transportation of containers in accordance with international standards.
