Azerbaijan's State Road Transport Service prepares draft law on freight forwarding

Azerbaijan's State Road Transport Service under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies has prepared a draft law on freight-forwarding activity, which was mulled with the specialists from the Ministry of Economy, spokesperson of the service Nurida Allahyarova told Trend.

According to her, the draft law was prepared to meet the needs of the economy and the population in freight forwarding services in Azerbaijan, to determine the legal and organizational bases of freight forwarding activity, and to regulate relations between government bodies and participants of the activity.

"The final draft, improved through discussion with carriers, was submitted to relevant government agencies," she said.

Allahyarova stressed that after the adoption of the draft, the relationship between a shipper, a forwarder and a carrier, i.e. all participants of freight forwarding activity will be regulated by law.

The State Road Transport Service is an executive body that exercises state regulation in the field of road transport, state control over the meeting of the population and the economy’s needs in road transportation and other transport services, compliance with the rules and requirements of domestic and international passenger and cargo transportation, as well as provisions of regulatory and legal acts, as well as international treaties to which Azerbaijan has joined.
