A new terminal is being built at Birjand International Airport in the South Khorasan Province (northeastern Iran), Director of Airports Department in South Khorasan Province Azim Tahmasibi said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.
According to Tahmasibi, currently, there is a 35 percent progress in the construction of this terminal.
Tahmasibi added that due to the current situation, the import of some equipment needed for the construction of the terminal has been suspended.
“If the equipment is provided on time, the terminal can be commissioned in January-February 2021,” he said.
Tahmasibi noted that otherwise, the terminal will be commissioned next year (to start March 21, 2021).
The director emphasized that 180 billion rials (about $4.28 million) was envisaged for the construction of this terminal as an initial expense. However, given the rise in prices, this figure could rise to 400 billion rials (about $9.52 million).
