Payments on vehicle insurance in Kazakhstan revealed

The number of registered cars in Kazakhstan amounted to 262,798 vehicles during first five months of 2020, which is 15 .3 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

As of Jun. 1, 2020, total number of passenger cars registered in Kazakhstan amounted to 3.8 million cars.

The committee noted that 84.4 percent of registered cars operate on petrol. Some 12.8 percent of the cars operate on mixed fuel and 2.6 percent - on diesel fuel.

The number of registered car accidents amounted to 4,178 cases during the reporting period, which is 26.6 percent less than during the same period of 2019, and 6,090 people were injured in these accidents.

As of Jun. 1, 2020, insurance companies made 28,521 payments worth 11.3 billion tenge (approximately $27.3 million) on Compulsory Civil Liability Insurance of Vehicle Owners.

Since the beginning of coronavirus outbreak Kazakhstan took a number of measures to prevent the virus from spreading. Thus, Kazakhstan authorities made a decision to introduce various restrictions on transport operation, including on road transport.

The first two cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.
