Khaf-Herat railway to increase product transit from Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 27

The transit of products from Iran to many countries, including European countries, will be increased with the commissioning of the Khaf-Herat railway between Iran and Afghanistan, deputy director of Iran’s Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company (CDTIC) Abbas Khatibi said, Trend reports citing the company’s official website.

The deputy director said that the railway will also allow Afghanistan to connect with countries around Iran.

Khatibi added that it is planned to commission this railway in the autumn of current Iranian year.

"This railway will be ready for operation to the Rozanak station, that is located 80 kilometers from the Herat city of Afghanistan," he said.

The deputy director stressed that there is 92 percent progress in the construction work from the Iran-Afghanistan border to Rozanak station. The work has been completed on 30 kilometers of railway.
