Turkey records decrease in cargo transportation via airport in Hatay province

As many as 3,700 tons of cargo were transported through Turkey’s airport in Hatay province from January through July 2020, which is a 49 percent decline in comparison to the same period of 2019, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

“Some 2,888 tons of cargo were handled via domestic flights from January through July 2020, which is 41 percent less compared to the same period of 2019,” the ministry said.

“Meanwhile, 812 tons of cargo were transported through the Hatay airport via international flights from January through July 2020, which is 65 percent less compared to the same period of 2019,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the airport served 348,510 passengers from January through July 2020, which is a 51 percent decrease compared to the same period of last year.

Some 229,207 passengers were served on domestic flights from January through July 2020, which is 47 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

Around 49,303 passengers were served on international flights from January through July 2020, which is 65 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

The ministry noted that 3,096 flights were carried out at the Hatay airport from January through July 2020, which is 40 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

Some 2,657 flights were carried out on domestic flights from January through July 2020, which is 33 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

The number of international flights via Hatay airport decreased by 63 percent from January through July 2020, reaching 439 compared to the same period of 2019.

The number of flights in Turkey decreased by 50.9 percent and amounted to 431,049 flights from January through July 2020.

From January through July this year, over 42.6 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.

During the reporting period, more than 1.2 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports of the country.
