Opening Lithuania-Azerbaijan direct regular air service is one of priority areas

Lithuania is interested in expanding air routes from Lithuania and one of the priority areas is the opening of direct regular air service between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Lithuania, Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania told Trend.

“We are informed about the interest of the Azerbaijani side to continue the process of coordinating the draft Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania on air communication. As well, we are interested in the course of the negotiations on Azerbaijan's accession to the common airspace of the EU.

“Lithuanian transport regulation institutions would like to express their willingness to cooperate with Azerbaijan in order to help to achieve goals and obligations related to the EU Association agreement and other strategic documents.

“We are suggesting to cooperate in the bilateral projects, such as, TAIEX, Twinning and other projects of your demand.

“Lithuania has gathered the pool of highly skilled experts from road, railway and maritime transport sector. Areas of cooperation can be expanded according to the needs of Azerbaijan transport and logistics authorities,” said the ministry.
