Cargo transportation in Azerbaijani part of TRACECA down

The volume of cargo transshipment in the Azerbaijani part of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) amounted to 24.4 million tons from January through July 2020, decreasing by 18.3 percent compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee.
At the same time, the cargo turnover reached 5.5 billion tone-kilometers.
The bulk of the total volume of cargo transportation (57 percent) fell on road transport - 13.9 million tons. This figure declined by 29 percent over the year.
The share of railway transport made up 30.8 percent of all traffic - 7.5 million tons, an increase of 2.7 percent over the year.
The share of maritime cargo movement accounted for 12.2 percent of the total cargo volume - 2.9 million tons.
About 20.2 percent or 4.9 million tons of goods transported through TRACECA are transit.
