Iran is ready to increase the forms of permits for the transportation of goods for Azerbaijani carriers, Nurida Allahyarova, spokesperson for the State Road Transport Service under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, told Trend on Sept. 17.
"Azerbaijani carriers have applied to the State Service with a request to increase the number of forms of permits for cargo transportation to Iran," Allahyarova added.
"A meeting of representatives of the relevant structures of the two countries was held in the format of a video conference to discuss the current situation in the field of international road transport between Azerbaijan and Iran," the spokesperson added. "The Service achieved an agreement from Iran to increase the number of permits for transportation."
The spokesperson stressed that the Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Head of the State Service Habib Hasanov while the Iranian delegation - by Head of the Main Directorate for Transit and International Transport of the Iranian Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization Jawad Hidayat.
"The plenipotentiary representatives of the Azerbaijani ministry, the Foreign Ministry and the State Customs Committee also joined the online meeting," the spokesperson said.
"The current situation in the field of international road transport between the two countries during the pandemic, the observance of the rules which are applied to prevent the spread of infection by the governments of the two countries, the problems that carriers face, the ways to solve them, the statistics analysis of the use of the permit forms by road carriers and the prospects for the development of transportation in the existing conditions were discussed at the meeting," the spokesperson said.
