Tajikistan considers flights resumption to Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 7

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

Tajikistan is considering the resumption of direct flights between Uzbekistan’s Tashkent and Dushanbe, Trend reports referring to the director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the government of Tajikistan Ikrom Subkhonzoda.

“After a seven-month break, direct flights on the Dushanbe - Istanbul (Turkey) and Dushanbe - Urumqi (China) routes will also be resumed in October,” said Subkhonzoda.

Passengers travelling to Tashkent will have to carry a document confirming a negative medical test for coronavirus, which is provided free of charge before departure 72 hours in advance in laboratories investigating the possibility of infection of citizens.

Earlier it was reported that the ministries and departments of Tajikistan and representatives of Uzbekistan government will discuss the opening of borders between the two states and the resumption of flights between Tashkent and Dushanbe during the meeting in Tajikistan’s Dushanbe.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Uzbekistan has suspended flights to many countries since March 16 of this year in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
