Kazakhstan Railways and the Turkmen Railways have discussed priority issues of activating transport and transit corridors of interstate and regional significance during a videoconference, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.
An exchange of views was held on the promotion of existing intergovernmental agreements.
Special attention was paid to the functioning of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran Transnational Railway as an important link between Europe and Asia, as well as the North–South Railway.
The parties discussed pricing policy in order to effectively use the capacity of international transit corridors, increase the volume of railway container transport and expand their geographical borders. The importance of establishing close contacts in the field of logistics, which ensures stable cargo transportation in various directions, was noted.
In addition, Turkmen side informed about the implementation of the project on modernization and electrification of the Turkmenabat–Mary–Ashgabat–Turkmenbashi Railway section.
