Kazakhstan’s DAMU supports new terminal construction in Shymkent int'l airport

Kazakhstan’s DAMU Fund has supported the construction of a new terminal in Shymkent international airport, Trend reports citing DAMU.

The construction of the terminal which will simultaneously serve 2,000 and 16 planes is being implemented by SCAT airline company.

The construction of the new terminal will increase the airport capacities from 800,000 to 3.5 million passengers a year.

In 2020, for the construction of a new passenger terminal at the airport and the purchase of equipment, the airline applied to the Damu Fund for support, and Halyk Bank JSC, having considered the project, allocated financing at 14 percent annual, 7 percent of which are subsidized by the Damu Fund.

Already, SCAT plans to be use the new terminal to carry out flights on more than 12 domestic and 16 international directions to connect South of Kazakhstan with the Baltic States, China, the Russian Federation, the Caucasus, Thailand, India and the European Union.

Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund JSC was established based on the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 665 dated 26 April 1997.

Since 2015 Damu Fund has been a financial agent, implementing and monitoring financial support (subsidies for interest rates on loans to businesses, providing guarantees to banks on entrepreneurs’ loans) as part of the BRM 2020 Unified business support and development program.
