Azerbaijan's ADY Express boosts daily volume of cargo handling at Astara terminal

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 26

The average daily volume of cargo handled at the Astara terminal (Iran) by ADY Express amounted to 1,414 tons from January through October 2020, having grown by 5.6 percent compared to the same period of 2019, Spokesman for the ADY Express LLC Ilham Abdulov told Trend.

“In the reporting period, 357,823 tons of cargo were transshipped. At the same time, 49 percent out of the total volume of cargo transshipped in this direction, were handled in the direction of Astara, 51 percent - from Astara,” Abdulov emphasized.

He noted that the countries leading in the volume of cargo transportation along the North-South route were Russia and Iran.

The bulk of cargo fell on timber and timber, construction materials, fruits, vegetables, grain and cereal products and other goods. On the day, goods were transported on average in 29 wagons, he said.

The operator of work on transshipment of goods at the Astara cargo terminal (Iran) is a subsidiary of the Azerbaijan Railways, ADY Express LLC.

ADY Express provides cost-effective and reliable logistics services in the sphere of railway freights. It intends to increase transit freight traffic between Asia and Europe. Owing to the development of the new routes this will also contribute to boosting volumes of transit between the Persian Gulf and Russia with European countries.
