TRACECA to approve plan on implementing pilot project using GTrD

Concept of a global transit document (GTrD) and details of a pilot project on document’s practical application was discussed at the second meeting of the working group of representatives of the PS IGC TRACECA countries, Trend reports with reference to TRACECA.

The use of the GTrD as a single multimodal document in the implementation of international road transport is of particular practical importance and conceptual approaches to the GTrD development, including the use of a digital blockchain platform, the creation of a guarantee mechanism to ensure the customs requirements of the participating countries, adoption of international mutual recognition agreement (MRA).

During the meeting, the members of the working group expressed interest in informing the relevant UN structures, international regional organizations, as well as the countries of the region about the progress of the project and inviting them to join its implementation.

Considering the exchange of views, the GTrD concept, a detailed business plan for the implementation of the pilot project together with the interested countries, transport and logistics structures, banks and insurance companies will be finalized.

The meeting participants had agreed to hold the third meeting of the working group in late April – early May 2021 in order to review the results of the work done and approve an action plan till the end of 2021 on the implementation of a pilot project using GTrD, the PS IGC message reads.

Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Asset Assavbayev, Chairman of the International Council of Road Workers Buri Karimov, Head of the Policy Coordination, Development, Monitoring and Reporting Service of the High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and small island developing states Sandagdorj Erdenebileg and others took part at the meeting.
