By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan is working on developing transport cooperation with Kazakhstan and Russia, Trend reports, citing the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

Negotiations are underway to establish mutual communication with Aktau International Commercial Sea Port and Kuruk Seaport in Kazakhstan.

In addition, the issue of opening a logistics center in Russia's Astrakhan is being discussed, and the opening of a trading house of Turkmenistan in Kazan of Russia's Tatarstan is envisaged.

Also, a project is being drawn up for transport links with access to Russian ports in the Baltic Sea, and then to Europe along the route of the Caspian sea – the Volga river.

Currently, Turkmenistan is implementing sea, road, rail, air, and pipeline international logistics projects.

The favorable geographical location of the country provides opportunities for creating a competitive transport macrostructure.

Turkmenistan continues to improve the transport sector and customs system. In order to improve the customs system, Turkmenistan has previously discussed The International Convention on the simplification and harmonization of Customs procedures (Kyoto Convention).

The accession to the convention will contribute to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation of Turkmenistan, as well as the development of foreign trade activities of the country.

The optimization of international cooperation in the transport and communication sector is one of the essential factors for achieving the country's sustainable development goals.
