BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan.2

Trend:

Iran is working to complete the second section of Tehran – North Freeway by the end of the current government's ruling term (June 2021), said head of Planning and Budget Organization of Iran Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, Trend reports via IRNA.

"So far, $285 million has been invested in construction of the second section of the freeway. Overall, $880 million is needed to complete the freeway," he said.

"The construction of East Alborz tunnel in the second section of Tehran – North Freeway that is more than 6,400 meters, is in final stages and will be completed next month," he said.

"The predicted cost of construction of the second section was more than primary estimations. The primary estimation was $476 million for construction of the second section but considering the inflation in the country our estimation reached $880 million," he said.

"The government and the Mostazafan Foundation would provide 50 percent of this investment and they are persistent to complete this project as soon as possible," he said.
