Iran's Alborz Province boosts cargo transportation

The volume cargo transportation from the Alborz Province (northern Iran) to various provinces and vice versa increased by 10 percent during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Goudarz Mahmoudi, Director General of the Road and Transport Department of Alborz Province, Trend reports citing the department’s information portal.

The director general emphasized that 8.17 million tons of cargo was transported between Alborz and other provinces of Iran over the reporting period.

He added that the transported goods were mainly industrial and agricultural products.

Mahmoudi noted that the cargo was transported by 88 cargo companies operating in Alborz Province.

According to him, despite the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, there has been growth in the economic sector in Alborz Province. Therefore, cargo transportation has increased.

There are 3,500 industrial enterprises operating in Iran's Alborz Province. The produced goods by the enterprises are consumed inside Iran and also exported.

As reported, $ 731 million worth of goods were exported from Iran's Alborz Province within 9 months.
