Georgian Geo Sky sees significant increase in shipment

Georgian cargo airline Geo Sky served 81 percent more cargo in 2020 than in 2019, Trend reports via Georgian media.

In 2020, the airline shipped 152,782.565 tons, and in 2019 84,374.970 tons.

According to Geo Sky, in terms of flights,18.8 percent fewer flights were performed this year than in 2019. According to company statistics, the company performed 845 flights, and in 2019 -1,041 flights.

As reported, the cargo transported by the airline in 2020 was for both humanitarian medical and mixed types of cargo, such as general cargo, mail, and dangerous cargo. The destinations where Geo Sky made the most flights in 2020 are Chenchou, Frankfurt, Maastricht, Liege, and Macau.

"Geo Sky Airline has been designated as a regular cargo carrier in the German state since 2020 and operates regular Tbilisi-Chenchou-Tbilisi-Frankfurt-Tbilisi flights three times a week. During the summer navigation season of 2021, the airline plans to increase the frequency of flights and the planning process is underway at this stage," Geo Sky said.

Geo Sky is the first Georgian carrier to operate regular cargo flights. It should be noted that no regular Georgian airlines have operated regular cargo flights from China to Europe.

The Civil Aviation Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia granted Georgian Airlines the necessary permit for regular freight traffic on November 25, 2020.
