Railway infrastructures put into operation in Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 8

A number of infrastructure objects, vehicles, services, equipment of railway stations and railway lines were put into operation in Iran’s railway sector yesterday on Feb.7, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to the report, a total of 14.4 trillion rials (about $344 million) has been spent on this sector.

“The nine railway lines with the total length of 34.5 kilometers were put into operation at a cost of 2.9 trillion rials (about $69 million),” the report said.

In addition, six railway lines with the total length of 39 kilometers were put into operation at a cost of 3.53 trillion rials (about $84 million), the report said.

According to the report, 16 plans have been implemented to increase safety on the railways at a cost of 550 billion rials (about $13 million).

“Also, 197 freight wagons worth 2.04 trillion rials (about $48.5 million) were launched,” the report said.
