Eslami noted that the making of investments in Iranian northern and southern ports continues. Over the past 14 years, about 300 trillion rials (about $7.14 billion) was invested in Iranian ports. Most of these investments were made over the past five years.

The minister added that as a result of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, cargo transportation in world ports decreased by about 9.5 percent. While in Iranian ports, the cargo transportation decreased by about 19 percent. Of course, in addition to the spread of coronavirus pandemic, sanctions also played their part in the decrease.

"Along with the development of İranian ports, the development of railway lines within the port is one of the main priorities. In addition, the focus is on increasing the number of warehouses in the ports and equipping them with equipment," he said.
