Oil platforms to be put into operation in Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port

Three oil platforms will be put into operation at the Shahid Rajaee port of Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) in the 3th month of the current Iranian year (May 22 through June 21, 2021), Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran and Head of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), Mohammad Rastad said, Trend reports citing the organization’s portal.

The chairman noted that work on the infrastructure of the platforms in the Shahid Rajaee port has already been completed. Given Iran's potential for crude oil and oil products exports, it is necessary to put the platforms into operation.

Rastad added that in addition, a 400-meter-long platform will be put into operation in the third stage of the development of the Shahid Rajaee port. Also, it is planned to put into operation 1,400-meter-long platforms in the third stage.

The deputy minister emphasized that ships with a capacity of 18,400 TEU will be able to dock at the port with the launch of these platforms.

"Thus, the loading and unloading capacity of the Shahid Rajaee port will increase from 6.3 million TEU to 8.4 million TEU," he said.
