Bulgaria receives significant cargo permits from Georgia - Ministry

In the field of road transport, a permit regime for freight transportation is in force between Georgia and Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Ministry of transport, information technologies, and communications told Trend.

"Every year the two countries exchange a basic quota of 1,500 universal permits without tolls and 150 cargo permits for/from a third party without tolls," the ministry said.

According to the source, 139 companies have been granted 2,535 Georgian universal permits and 39 permits for Georgia of "for/from a third party" type, for the period 01.01.2020 - 31.12.2020.

"Some 102 companies have been granted 693 Georgian universal permits and 8 permits for Georgia of "for/from a third party" type, for the period 01.01.2021 - 09.04.2021," the ministry added.

The haulage for/from a third party may also be carried out with multiple ECMT/CEMT permits, the source added.

Bulgaria recognized the independence of Georgia on January 15, 1992. Diplomatic relations between both countries were established on June 5, 1992. Bulgaria has an embassy in Tbilisi and Georgia has an embassy in Sofia. Both countries are full members of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
