Kazakhstan, Russia discuss development of online transport registration technologies

The heads of ‘NK Kazakhstan Temir Zholy’ and Russian Railways JSCs agreed to develop a special roadmap, Trend reports referring to the JSC.

Nurlan Sauranbayev, Board Chairman of the ‘NK Kazakhstan Temir Zholy’ JSC, held negotiations with his Russian counterpart Oleg Belozerov.

The parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the transport sector and logistics, noting the positive dynamics of the development of relations, long-term promising areas of partnership.

The heads of railway administrations discussed in detail the work of railway border crossings on the Kazakh-Russian and Kazakh-Chinese borders.

Further plans for the development of the activities of the United Transport and Logistics Company (UTLC), created by the railway administrations of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus, were also considered.

Besides, issues of the development of online technologies for transport registration were discussed. The parties agreed to develop a roadmap for the transition to a digital format for the registration of export-import operations.

From January through March 2021, the volume of freight traffic between Kazakhstan and Russia amounted to over 21 million tons, having risen by 2 percent over the same period of the previous year. In particular, exports increased by 4 percent and amounted to about 14 million tons. The growth was due to the supply of coal, oil products, and ferrous metals through Russia.

In the first quarter of this year, exports of grain increased by 65 percent, coal by 70 percent, non-ferrous ore by 53 percent, ferrous metals by 26 percent, and petrochemicals by 22 percent. Last year, the total cargo turnover between the two countries exceeded 85 million tons.
