Iran's Bandar Abbas International Airport expanded

The process of expanding the apron at the Bandar Abbas International Airport in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) will be completed by the end of the 3rd month of the current Iranian year (May 22 through June 21, 2021), Director General of Hormozgan Province Airports Department Abouzar Ziaei said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

Ziaei said that currently, 8 planes can be parked on the airport apron.

The director-general added that the parking space for 4 planes has been repaired on the apron and space for parking of two more planes has been created.

“Moreover, 1 taxiway was created at the airport and connected to the runway and apron,” he said.

According to the project on the development of apron at Bandar Abbas International Airport, the apron area is be increased by 32,000 square meters and the existing infrastructure is to be repaired. A total of 1.7 trillion rials (about $40.5 million) is to be spent within the project. So, Iran spent 800 billion rials (about $19 million) in the first nine months of last Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2020). At present, there is 75 percent physical progress in the construction of the taxiway.
