The number of electric vehicles imported by Uzbekistan within April 2021 amounted to 65 cars, Trend reports referring to State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the State Statistics Committee, 156 electric vehicles were imported into the country in just the first four months of 2021, which is more than in the whole of 2020 (131).
During the reporting period, electric cars were imported to Uzbekistan mainly from China - 119 cars. Turkey is second in the list of main electric car suppliers to Uzbekistan with - 24 electric vehicles. It is followed by South Korea and the US, who exported four electric cars each.
It is noted that the total imports of electric vehicles in Uzbekistan since the beginning of the year in value terms amounted to $3.4 million.
According to PlugShare (application and web that allows users to find and review charging stations), currently there are 15 charging stations for electric vehicles in Uzbekistan. The first charging stations appeared in Fergana, and a whole network is already being created in Tashkent - by TokBor and Makro (networks of charging stations for electric vehicles).
In December 2020 the government of Uzbekistan abolished the tax for the purchase of electric vehicles domestically and temporary import.
In addition, soon a roadmap for the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles will be developed in Uzbekistan.
