Volume of cargo loaded, unloaded in Iranian ports declines

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports decreased by 0.3 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to May 26, compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing today's report of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the report, about 22.3 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting period. While in the same period last Iranian year, about 22.4 million tons of cargo had been loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports.

So, 8.94 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned period. This is an increase of 19.8 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (7.46 million tons).

The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 180,000 tons. This is a decrease of 48.9 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (350,000 tons).

The volume of other container shipments was 2.22 million tons, which is 41.7 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (3.81 million tons).

The general cargo volume stood at 3.28 million tons showing a 46 percent increase compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (2.25 million tons).

Dry bulk cargo volume reached 7.24 million tons. This is a decrease of 14 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (8.42 million tons).

The liquid bulk cargo was 670,000 tons. This is 40.1 percent more than in the same period of the last Iranian year (480,000 tons).

The cargo was loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Arvandkenar, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Tiab, Jask, Chabahar, Charak, Chavibdeh, Khorramshahr, Dayyer, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Shahid Haqqani, Fereidoonkenar, Qeshm, Genaveh, Bandar Lengeh, and Noshahr.
