Iran’s PMO shares data on investment opportunities in Bushehr port

The Negin port complex of the Bushehr port in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran) is ready to accept investments in the fields of general cargo, containers and oil, Director General of Ports and Maritime Department of Bushehr Province Siavash Arjmandzadeh said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to him, work on the first phase of the Negin port complex will be completed by the end of the 6th month of the current Iranian year (September 22, 2021). Over the past 2.5 years, roads have been laid to the terminals in the complex, as well as, the complex has been supplied with water, electricity, sewerage, firefighting and etc.

The director general added that thus, there are conditions in the Negin port complex to transport 600,000 TEU containers, 2 million tons of oil and 1 million tons of general cargo per year.

Arjmandzadeh stressed that moreover, the platform is to be built for the export of 1 million tons of oil.

"As result, the loading and unloading capacity of the Bushehr port will increase from 8 million tons to 16 million tons per year," he said.

The director general noted that if the private sector is interested in investing in the Negin port complex, it is possible to further develop this port complex.

As reported, a total of 398,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the port in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021). About 276,000 tons of cargo were exported and 36,700 tons were imported through the port over the reporting month.
