Volume of Azerbaijan's cargo transportation by road in 1H2021 revealed

The cargo transportation by road in Azerbaijan had decreased from January through June 2021, Trend reports citing a report of the State Statistical Committee.

According to the source, during the reporting period over 52.2 million tons of cargo (56.7 percent of the total freight traffic) had been transported in the country, which is a decline of 7.2 percent on annual basis.

In the private sector, cargo transportation by road decreased by 5.9 percent. The private sector in the specified period accounted for 77.2 percent of all cargo transportation by road.

In the first half of 2021, passenger traffic by road amounted to 542.5 million people, which is 13.1 percent less than in the same period last year. Meanwhile, buses transported 97.7 percent of passengers, metro - two percent, taxis and other private carriers - 0.3 percent.

During this period, cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Azerbaijan amounted to 92.2 million tons, which is a decline of 4.2 percent year on year, and passenger traffic amounted to 555.1 million people, down 19.5 percent compared to the first half of 2020.
