Number of trucks passing via Iran's Jolfa border checkpoint up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 1

The number of trucks passing through the Jolfa border checkpoint in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) increased by 29 percent during the first four months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Orujali Alizadeh, Director General of East-Azerbaijan Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

Alizadeh said that a total of 20,600 trucks crossed the Jolfa border checkpoint within the mentioned period.

He added that the volume of goods exported and imported through the Jolfa border checkpoint amounted to about 164,000 tons. In addition, 154,000 tons of goods were transited through this checkpoint.

The director general noted that also, 5,700 people crossed the Jolfa border checkpoint over the 4 months.

As reported, the Jolfa border checkpoint is located on the border with Iran and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
